Thoughts

I really enjoyed this series and it proved to be Stephen King back to being the masterful world builder that he is. He really found something special in Bill Hodges and Holly Gibney. Brady Hartsfield is a dirtbag, but I guess kudos to King for creating a good villain too. As the series comes to a close and the annoying Morris Bellamy is taken care of we can return to Brady’s twisted mind. Only this time around he develops telepathic and telekinetic powers that have been getting stronger during his hospital stay. His mission is to have mind control over the people of Flint City, and have them all commit a massive suicide. How you ask? In this modern take King uses tablets that have a colorful fish game to seduce people. From here Brady can enter their minds from his central tablet. It is a really unique way of closing out this series and I think it is done really well. Brady was already a computer geek so this fits nicely into the story although it does have some supernatural elements. I get upset with King when the supernatural stuff gets too out of hand when it is supposed to be close to reality. This time around he flirts with the line, but does not abuse this power. A solid ending to a solid series.
